Japandroids – Jack The Ripper (Nick Cave Cover)

Not to be confused with the famous Kool Moe Dee diss by LL Cool J. The duo is actually covering a track from legendary artist Nick Cave. What the boys do here is nothing short of awesome. Putting a new spin on this classic with awesome guitar riffs, and a more lo-fi sound. Be on the lookout for their album “Celebrate Rock” due next month.

The Neighborhood – Sweater Weather *Updated*

Heard of this group in Febuary thanks to the people over at P&P; who also are the reason why this track is on this site. I was feeling the groups first song “Female Robbery” and I am feeling this. Currently in NYC, it is definetly sweater weather as the temperature has dipped sufficently since the summer like weather last week. The official video for this track will be out tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that.

The first single off the popular California group’s second album is the title track. The upbeat, catchy tune “The Only Place” is a love song to the band’s home state, and a wonderful start to what hopes to be another awesome record.

Frankie P – WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT BOY / END OF THE NIGHT

It is no secret that I am a fan of New York’s own Frankie P. His album “Hazy Night In The Heights” gets constant rotation on my iPod, and I use it as a backdrop when I am writing reviews over at BWCF.com- Frankie is touching on a ambitious project; connecting the Virgina rap duo “The Clipse” and mashing them with classic psych- rock band “The Doors”.  The project is titled “Keys Open Doors” and will be available for download on March 28th on awakeinmydreams.com; thanks to istandardproducers for the leak. This is the first full track of the project, and while I may not be an expert on Mash-Ups, I know a good sound when I hear one.

Keep on so you can see the cover, and tracklist for Frankie’s new project. Read more of this post
