Smithsonian Institution Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Hip-Hop Anthology

The Smithsonian Institution has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for their anthology dedicated to Hip Hop music and culture.

Per the Kickstarter campaign:

As a musical, cultural and social force of the last 40 years, hip-hop is taking its place in the Smithsonian — an institution devoted to preserving and documenting our nation’s heritage.

That’s why the National Museum of African American History and Culture is partnering with our GRAMMY Award-winning record label, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, to create the Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap — a cultural statement told through music, text and powerful visuals. And we need YOU to help make #HipHopHistory!

The organization is looking to raise $250,000 in donations by November 16. As of this being published, contributions sit at $56,789 from 477 backers.
