Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae Perform at White House for 4th of July

While most of the country was out celebrating the 4th of July with BBQ and fireworks, Malia Obama celebrated her 18th birthday Monday with Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae at the White House. Both performed radio edited versions of their hit songs in front of military vets and their families.

“These two, I’ve gotten a chance to know, and they are both amazing artists and talented and popular and doing great things, but they’re also very conscious about their responsibilities and obligations. And they put in a lot of time and effort on behalf of a lot of causes that are important. We’re really proud of them for that,” The President stated of Lamar and Monae.
