Jay Z Becomes First Rapper Inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame

Iconic emcee, Sean “Jay Z” Carter is the first rapper chosen for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Chic guitarist, Nile Rodgers, who announced the inductees on CBS This Morning stated “It’s massive. He has changed the way that we listen to music. He’s changed the way that we have fun.”

While it may seem like this is long overdue, Jay Z is, in fact, one of the “newer” artists being inducted along with Max Martin. Both Martin and the Mr. Carter among some heavy hitters being inducted in the 2017 class, including Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Berry Gordy, and 3 members of Chicago.
