Fat Joe Donates 20 New Computers to South Bronx Elementary School
Local Bronx, New York elementary school, P.S. 146 received a very special gift from their alumnus, rapper Fat Joe. The Bronx emcee provided the school with 20 brand new Microsoft computers, according to the NY Daily News. The excited students sat enthusiastically as Fat Joe spoke on the importance of education and accomplishing their dreams.
“As long as you get your education and you stay focused, you can do anything,” Fat Joe stated in a speech to students grades 3 to 5.
The donation was made in honor of Fat Joe’s late sister, Lisa Cartagena, who died during child birth and had also been a student at the school. The computers will arrive next month in a special “learning corner” named after her.
Though rap star has been in the game for many years, he is still reaching audiences of all ages. The students not only gave him a warm welcome but felt the impact of his visit. “It’s kind of a miracle,” said Hasan Mothana, 10, a fifth grader. “I love his songs and his raps. It’s so awesome, I listen to (them) every day.”
Giving back to the community he comes from is of special significance. “Once you achieve a level of success … you learn, something tells you, man this ain’t even for you,” he said. “You got to share with the people. You got to inspire the people.”
