The Dark Knight Rises – Feature Trailer

Do I really have to say anything?

G.I Joe: Retaliation Trailer – Come for the Ninjas, not for the plot

I hated the first G.I Joe movie. I hated everything from the first trailer on Superbowl Sunday, to the end credits of the film. I hate the suits, I hated most of the actors, and I hated the completely preposterous plot. Well this is the second go around, and it seems things are going in a different direction. New director; gone is Stephen Sommers, and in is John Chu who has directed two “Step Up” films and the Justin Bieber documentary/3D concert film “Never Say Never”- already I am cringing. The main star does not seem to be Channing Tatum, instead they placed an actor who actually has some charisma on camera, and that is action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

So it seems they are going for the obligatory sequel procedure, that now everything has to be super big, and super important. Instead of destroying the Eiffel Tower like they did in the first film; in what I called a “Gatorade” missile: this time, they have taken over the United States Government, with awesome looking Cobra flags on it. Cobra Commander: who was criminally underused, and whose story arc made absolutely no sense was played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and he is not listed as being a member of the cast. Never the less, they got rid of that stupid plastic mask, and placed the metal shield that he should have in the first place.

Thinking back to the first film, I forced myself to remove images from my mind so they would not give me nightmares, the scenes I do remember fondly, are the scenes with Ninjas Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow. They both are returning, and it seems there will be ore Ninja action in this film, than the previous one. Well at least they got that going for them, because the Bruce Willis cameo and completely lame joke, almost made me vomit.

Men In Black III – Kind of makes me want to jump off a building, without the whole time travel thing.

It will be 10 years since the last film in this series, the rushed, horribly written “Men In Black II”.  It is going to be 15 years since the original was released. I just so happened to catch the first “MIB” just last weekend, and it has not aged well at all. Speaking of not aging well, when was the last Will Smith film that was any good? Tommy Lee Jones; while not being a box office superstar, is capable of delivering stellar performances in good, well written movies he has however, never really been good in any sort of comedy. This just seems lazy, and well… I just do not seem to care. Apparently J (Smith) has to go back in time to figure out what has happened to his partner K(Jones) who everyone believes has been dead for the last forty years. During his time jump, which is shown in the end of the trailer, he ends up in 1969 where he meets a younger K, played by another good actor Josh Brolin. This just seems like a cash grab.

“A Separation” Trailer

This is the Iranian entry into the Academy Awards “Best Foreign Film” category. It has been playing world-wide at different festivals and conventions. It took home three Golden Bears at the Golden Bear film festival awards in Berlin; one for the main actor and actress, and the prestigious Golden Bear award for Best Picture. It gives the vibe of a compelling, thoughtful, and emotional serious drama, if this is playing around your neck of the woods, I would advise you see this; if not, well I do not have to write other ways you can view the film

The Three Stooges Trailer – I Seriously Want To Poke The Eyes Of Everyone Involved, Till My Fingers Reach The Back Of Their Skulls

I can recall staying over a friend’s house during my elementary school days and being introduced to The Three Stooges. I remember in the very late hours of the evening, laughing hysterically as Moe, the leader and most frequent abuser of the three slapped Curly, the dumbest of the three with his own sandwich. From than on, whenever The Stooges came across my television screen, I would devote some time to laugh at their wacky misadventures.

When the news was out that The Farrelly Brothers: filmmakers who were known for delivering comedies such as “There is Something About Mary” and to a lesser extent “The Heartbreak Kid”, I was a little afraid. When I heard who was rumored to be cast: Sean Penn as Larry, Benecio Del Toro as Moe, and none other than Jim Carrey as Curly, I was filled with excitement and anticipation. Sadly, the news of these three actors coming together to portray the icons proved false, and what we got instead was, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulous and Will Sasso, I begin to feel a lot less excited for this film.

Now I originally thought that the film, would be three short films, all different in story, more in the fashion of the original Three Stooges productions. However, what we have here is the Stooges, trying to save their childhood home; while also trying being involved in a murder plot. So it is a mix of The Blues Brothers, and a very generic, unfunny thriller. To top it all off, they somehow get into a very successful reality television show. I wash my hands of this film, and will pretend to the fullest extent of my power that it does not exist. I can see no way, how this film will not be a complete disgrace to the legacies left by the original Moe, Larry & Curly.
