BET Orders Pilot for Nas Based Biography Series, Street Dreams
With 29 million viewers tuning in to BET’s New Edition Story miniseries, the network has decided to strike again while the iron is hot.
BET greenlit a pilot to shoot for an hour-long series titled Street Dreams, a biography based on Nasir Jones. The show’s pilot will be written and directed by Jonathan Levine, creator of the TV series Rush.
Per Deadline, the show was originally helmed by the now closed Xbox Entertainment Studios, and intended to be a half-hour series. It appears however, all of the people slated to be involved in the original series are back and working on developing the program for BET.
The series is said to follow Nas as an adolescent through his time in the streets back in Queensbridge Housing Projects up through his experiences as a Hip-Hop superstar.
While the paperwork is still be finalized, Nas is rumored to be listed as an executive producer.
“Street Dreams” was a single off Nas’ sophomore album It Was Written, which can be purchased here. The music video (seen below) is based off the classic mob flick, Casino.
