Vizio stepping out big early at CES…OnLive making moves.
So far, most of the interesting tidbits to leak form CES out in Vegas have come courtesy of Vizio, the leading LCD brand. For those that don’t know, Vizio has been producing good quality, low cost LCD’s for a little while know, doing major numbers, bringing HD to households everywhere. Well, per CES, Vizio will being getting involved in the tablet, and smartphone marketplaces also. Vizio has announced a tablet to rival the iPad (specs unannounced as of now) and a smarphone to rival the iPhone. They have also said they plan to release sub $300 3d TVs. No word on the price of the tablet or smartphone, or carrier for the smartphone, however, as far as OS goes, Vizio says all three devices, and their upcoming TVs will be running on a similiar OS, with android marketplace apps.
If the possibility of a cheaper iPad competitor or sub $300 3d television hasn’t gotten you hyped enough, info has also gotten out that OnLive game streaming, will come included in Vizio’s OS. For the uninformed, OnLive is a cloud based gaming service, in which the computing for the games, is all done via the cloud server, meaning high-end computers, and consoles are unnecessary. A couple high profile games included already on the OnLive service are “Assassin’s Creed 2″ and “NBA 2k11″. For 10.99 a month, you can play games all you want…this means, without having to buy a console or high end PC, for 10.99 a month and a Vizio LCD (which, is cheaper than other LCDs on the market) you can have access to high profile, graphic intensive games.
