Yes on 19…duh!

So much bigger than me…

So, I’m sure by now everybody in California, and anybody anywhere else who smokes weed knows prop 19 is about the legalization of marijuana in the state of California. Pot heads everywhere are screaming “Say Yes! Say Yes!” so they can blaze a doubie whenever they please while in this wonderful state of mine. Truthfully, due to my “medical issues”, I can “medicate” whenever necessary…so me voting for this issue so I can “blaze up” isn’t necessary. What people fail to realize, is that there are so many other positive reasons for legalization of marijuana. Being a proud resident of California, I feel I wouldn’t be doing my duty if I didn’t vote yes, and at least speak on some of the other positives of legalization.

Taxation:

Like many other states right now, the state of California is in a FUCKED up financial situation. In turn, they drop our university admittances, raise our community college prices, raise prices for vehicle registrations, close DMV’s extra days, lay-off state employees..etc. etc. Imagine the impact that legalization, and taxation of weed would have? My city, Long Beach, has already drafted up a measure that if 19 passes, would increase the tax on marijuana to 15% to help take care of city issues (parks, libraries, etc. etc)….I’m all for it. Marijuana isn’t a necessity, it’s a luxury item.  Therefore, if they want to tax a little more on a luxury item, and use my funds to improve where I live, I’m all for it. 15% of my $50 1/8th of fire, that’s $7.50, $57.50 for my 8th…I’m all for it. Statewide taxes could be used to improve schools, roads and public transportation, open up more positions for state employees, hire police to police REAL criminals, the list goes on. The benefits of the taxation of legal marijuana are obvious.

Fixing of legal issues:

Everybody smokes weed…however, a lot higher number of minorities end up locked up in jail for it. Why? Don’t ask questions you already know the answer to. Legalizing marijuana would help to curb the issue of disproportionately arrested people. Sure, blacks and Latinos will still get more time for crack, than whites do for cocaine (which is required for crack)…but that’s another issue.  Also, with people not being imprisoned for marijuana charges, they can keep real criminals, murderers, child molesters, corporate crooks, Lindsay Lohan, imprisoned, Here in California, our jails are over packed. Due to that fact, some people are being released early, juveniles charged with adult charges can’t be housed separately from adult criminals…so they are put into solitary confinement, (which causes more issues) and of course the over crowding leads to more physical altercations. If we can stop imprisoning people for marijuana related charges, HOPEFULLY, that can help with that issue. I understand people will claim this will give criminals the OK to sell weed…but get real. HBO is currently airing a show titled “Boardwalk Empire” that shows what exactly happened when the government made the sale of drinking alcohol illegal, for those of you who don’t know what happened, it led to an increase in organized crime. Those factions become extremely strong because they were the only sources for liquor, which people demanded. The legalization of marijuana will give people several options to purchase marijuana taking the power away from criminals, most of which will probably be cheaper than your street dealer (due to the lower price of production, due to mass, LEGAL, growing), stronger than your street dealer (since it will be legal to grow, weed can be grown in optimum conditions, without the worry of having to a pack it up to escape the feds), and sold in more of a controlled situation than your street dealer. Street dealers will sell to anybody, kids have to be fed, Madden has to be bought. If an 11 year old wants some kush…they can get it. However, retail locations would check for ID, limiting the amount of weed being sold to kids. (as we all know…SOMEBODY will still sell to kids).

Tourism/Interesting people:

California is already the place to be, my apologies to New York, but everything NEW goes down in California. Imagine the impact the legalization of weed would have on that. There’s a lot of undercover weed smokers in entertai…in life in general. California would be the only state they can be clearly open about it. There are a lot of great minds who partake in marijuana…they could openly smoke it here in California, and enjoy all the great things cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Oakland already offer. Think about it, it’d be like ancient times when Egypt was popping, and  Greeks used to go to Egypt to get put up on everything that matters. Imagine the increase in tourism. No other state could advertise you can come here, see celebrities, and light up on the biggest strip around. This would lead to MORE money for California.

Showing you fuckers how it’s done:

Like I said, everything new comes from California. If this passes, once the increase in state funds, decrease in crime, and other benefits are noticed by everyone else, other states will have to jump on the bandwagon. I imagine Nevada, with it’s legal gambling, small areas of legal prostitution, and California borders would be next. Soon however, all states (except maybe Utah…cuz they suck) would be looking to attempt to legalize marijuana, until it becomes a federal thing, and it’s passed for the entire nation. Fighting it is retarded. I hear Obama’s peoples saying they’ll sue to veto it, but it’s bullshit. If we kept things the way they were…just because that’s the way they were, Obama wouldn’t be in office. Do they really want to spend money to police marijuana in California…I doubt it. The oppositions arguments are invalid. They say “Well now, if it’s legal, workers can come in to work high,”…shit, workers come in to work high now. If you work at my job, I can guarantee you there is at least one person coming in there high often (  :)  ). IF people coming into work high effects their performance…they can be terminated. Why? Because of their performance. If it doesn’t effect their performance…shut the fuck up. They say “Well bus drivers can be high, and they drive your children to school”….I love how they always bring up “your children”. They go for your weakness, the opposition to good moves (legalization of marijuana, gay marriage) always try and scare you into believing it will have a negative effect on your kids. Let’s be real…you children’s bus driver can already go to work high…what’s stopping him? Laws? Who knows he or she is high? It only becomes an issue if they can’t perform their duties…and it’ll be the same way if marijuana is legalized, no difference. The difference will be that if they are high, and don’t cause any accidents, part of the money they spent on that weed, will go towards the school they’re driving “your children” to.

November 2nd, Californians can once again, show you how it’s done. I’l be out there,I hope enough people go out there and make the right choice.  If people are allowed to consume alcohol abuse their livers and beat up on their wives, why can’t I smoke my weed, munch, and go to sleep?
