To Err is human…

…and no matter what he may have been billed as, Tiger Woods is human

It’s so not me to talk about what EVERYBODY else is talking about, however, it seems unavoidable. I turn on the TV, you know, watch some Sportscenter, catch some cats getting dunked on…what do I see? Tiger Woods approval ratings! Approval ratings???

When did we elect him in to office?

Dude is losing sponsors, his friends are being questioned by reporters, you’d swear he shot up a strip club. California congressman, Joe Baca, who was trying to get Tiger Woods the congressional gold medal in March, has now backed off due to the “controversy surrounding Tiger and his family,”

What did he get arrested for again?

No wonder unemployment rates are so horrible. Instead of looking for a job, American’s are too busy focusing on the lives of celebrities. This is definitely nothing new, however, the way it’s being handled by the sports world is. When OJ got in the situation he was in, he was on trial for murder. The Kobe situation? He was on trial for rape.  Mike Vick? He was on trial for several charges (which were bullshit, but hey, that’s another story). Tiger Woods hasn’t committed any crimes. While those bitches on “The View” (seriously…what is the point of that show?) may waste their time speaking on whether or not this person or that person cheated, I don’t want that shit on my Sportscenter. That’s the whole reason my television viewing is limited to whatever channel the sports are on, Discovery Channel/Animal Planet, and HBO…to avoid this type of shit. Apparently, I can no longer avoid this issue.

What do I think about Tiger Woods cheating?

I don’t give a shit. The movie “Funny People” immediately comes to mind. In the movie, Seth Rogan’s character, Ira, the no pussy getting, shy, barely funny comedian is hired to write jokes for Adam Sandler’s character, George, the big time movie star comedian, who thinks he’s going to die. At one point, Ira asks George why he cheated on the women who was going to be his wife. George replies  “It’s easy to not cheat when no one wants to fuck you,”  Not saying I can’t pull, I’m saying there’s no possible way I could comprehend what it’s like being Tiger Woods, therefore, who am I to judge the morality of something he’s done? Better yet, what type of person does that make me, sitting around judging the morality of something he’s done,  which has absolutely nothing to do with me?

Tiger Woods is a golf player, not a priest.

Tiger Woods plays a sport most people didn’t give half a shit about until he came along. I may be young, true, but honestly, I don’t remember golf prior to Tiger Woods. I remember Christian Okoye and I remember Dino Radja, obscure sports references from football and basketball respectively that pre-date Tiger Woods, but I don’t remember golf prior to Tiger Woods. ESPN didn’t give a shit about golf prior to Tiger Woods, therefore, I didn’t give a shit about golf prior to Tiger Woods. Had this been, I don’t know, Phil Mickelson (sp?) in the pre-Tiger Woods era of golf, would this be a story? Fuck no. You can say it’s because Tiger Woods is the star that he is, however, I don’t remember it being a big deal when Tom Brady got a chick pregnant, then bounced on her because a super model was gonna give him some ass.

Let’s not make this a black and white thing though, that’s so played out.

The true problem is, the media loves to build up these super human images, and often, it’s done to discredit other people. “Everybody loves to play with Lebron, he’s a better teammate than Kobe Bryant,” or how about “A Rod will break Barry Bonds record, and when he does, he’ll do it without the juice,”. When these super humans are exposed, and we find out they don’t walk on water, the media feels forced to try and tear them down.  Now Tiger Woods has fallen from grace.

Word? Last time I checked he still can’t be fucked with in the “sport” of Golf.
