It’s Dropping, Who’s Copping? (11/16/09)

Return of the bad guy….

               So yea, I listed 50 Cent’s return to form album “Before I Self Destruct” as dropping last week. I made this mistake because Best Buy’s website (which I turn to for media release date info) lists it’s week as starting on Tuesday. With 50′s album dropping on the 16th (today) Best Buy listed it as dropping last week. Who the fuck drops an album on a Monday? Anyways, this album is dope, but it’s not the only hip-hop shit to snatch up this week. Largely ignored, Rakim Allah returns this week with “The 7th Seal”.

After giving the joint a spin through….I don’t know. I know hip hop heads may be upset for me saying it (or do they not care too?), but I’m not really feeling this album. It’s hard, cuz the 2 or 3 times I’ve seen Rakim perform, I’ve been stuck in amazement as he’s performed his old shit. This new shit…I can’t imagine that happening. On a higher note…the two return!

               Murs and Slug return for Felt 3, this time with Aesop Rock on the beats, and the tribute is for Rosie Perez. With both rappers fresh off “I’m a grown ass man” albums (Murs’ “Murs for President”, and Slug with Atmosphere’s “When God Gives You Lemons..”) I feel this should be interesting. I mean, Felt has sort of always seemed like extremely serious on some tracks, and then a party in a song on other. I’ll be buying this joint no matter what. I’m listening to it tonight(RIGHT NOW).

Two dope joints drop on Blu-Ray this week. First of all, one of my favorite movies of all times finally drops on Blu-Ray, “Fight Club”. If you haven’t seen this joint, do yourself a favor…cop it. I wont’ speak too much on it, cuz it has a big twist to the story…I’ll just say, Ed Norton did his thing as he always does. Also dropping is JJ Abrams take on “Star Trek”. I’m not a Trekkie…but this movie was dope. JJ is dynamite! (sorry, had to say that) Special features, bonuses, whatever…I don’t care. The movie is dope, and I can’t wait to see it on my 52 inch in 1080P while baked.

               Dope video games are dropping across the 3 major platforms this week. Assassin’s Creed 2 is releasing on both PS3 and Xbox 360. supposable, the mission variety has been increased, so things don’t get played out like they did on the last one. I’ve had this joint since last week, but haven’t played as much as I’d like because of school, and Modern Warfare 2 online. For the Xbox 360 fanboys bragging rights, and other people with Xbox360′s, Left for Dead 2 is dropping for Xbox 360. Nerd’s raised a hell storm online over Valve releasing a sequel so quickly to Left 4 Dead…however, they seem to be back on the Valve bandwagon now. I’ll be on this joint later in the week (gamertag=Longbeachzking). PS3 fanboys, Blu-ray enthusiast who took the cheap way out, and anybody else with a PS3 can go cop the God of War collection for PS3 this week. This bundle gives you God of War 1 and 2, in 1080p at 60fps on 1 Blu-ray. You also get a demo fo God of War 3. The best thing about all this??? You get this all for $39.99! Can’t beat that! Finally, for the Nintendo fan-boys, Old people bored with Wii-fit, Hipster gamers, and anybody else with a Wii, “New Super Mario Bros” releases this week. For those not in the know “New Super Mario Bros” is something like Super Mario 4. It’s like Nintendo never released a Mario game after Mario 3, then threw this joint out now. It features co-op game play over classic 2d platforming. I’ll be getting this joint as soon as I cop another Wii (when the hell will that be?) On the fourth major console (if you ask me), PSP, Little Big Planet and Assassin’s Creed:Bloodlines are dropping. I’ll be on them both…don’t worry about how, but I will be.
