Hi haters I’m back of hiatus, the purpose you ask? To enlighten the poor unwashed masses with wisdom from the mountain top obviously. Kid Cudi, what can I say about the project that I know to be true? He is coming on a different angle with this album. Is this a concept album is a question that may surface if you aren’t paying close enough attention to what is happening here. This album is an introspective self portrait of a young man’s inner most thoughts / personal soundtrack. The overall score will be given at the end of this analysis.
The Lyrics: Kid Cudi’s verbals came proper even though I’m not a fan of the total content, he talks about what he knows best, himself and weed. Oh yea and freaks who are on his jock also. He has a unique delivery and also sings reasonably, not impressively. The fact that he has his own lane really carries him far, the sound is very contemporary if not slightly ahead. The influence of Kanye is visible in his style but not negatively like the way JR Writer sounds like Cam’ron. The key to his success is the fact he is presumably being himself and not trying to sell you a character.
The Production: The beats on this album have seriously confirmed that hip hop is in love with futuristic sounds right now. There is a decent amount of bass to be found in this journey, at many points I wondered why I was doing the robot but its mandatory. Kanye’s drums on #8-sky might fall will shake the plates off your baby momma’s prius. The production on this damn album can not be missed period, very vivid memorable tracks on this one. Listen to “Cudi Zone” and you will find the essence of what makes hip hop right, where an artist gets a track perfect for them.
The Features: Good amount of features on this official entry for Cudi. He had Common, MGMT, Ratatat, and of course Kanye. The features do not overpower this album, they were actually very well balanced and fit the overall theme well.
Overall Review: 8.2/10 As a first album you can’t help but be impressed with how polished of a project this turned out to be. Even though I feel as though he could have expanded his subject matter, that really isn’t a huge factor because he is doing his own thing. I would definitely say this album is one of the best ones of the year so far in Hip Hop (Top 10). Is it worth the purchase? ……..If you are a fan certainly buy this with no fear. If you are just the casual hip hop fan go ahead and download it so you at least know why he blew up.

great review definately one of the better LP’s this year…but….. Man On The Moon > Blueprint 3 ?????? hmmmmmm yep (imo)
The Blueprint 3 was definitely better than this album, no contest. All you have to do is look at the producer list and then realize that it is Jay z spittin
^^^ well if you judge all your albums by what the producer list looks like then i cant really take ur opinion seriously lol
