If you read my earlier post..you know the basics, Fat Princess is a 16 vs 16 player “capture the flag” game where the “flag” is…a fat princess. Now, she doesn’t start fat…you have to fatten her up by feeding her cake. You have 5 different classes to pick from: mage, priest, warrior, worker, and ranger.
Fat Princess is very balanced if I could say one thing its that for sure. Now I don’t have many complaints with this game, but many times you encounter stalemates and games end up taking 45 minutes to an hour…so this makes jumping in a match alot less appealing, but I’m getting ahead of myself, let me explain what all there is in Fat Princess.
So besides the main single player which is just 7 matches of the different modes which are online (Rescue the Princess, Snatch ‘n Grab, Team Deathmatch and Invasion) Rescue the Princess and Snatch ‘n Grab are similar…rescue is more about getting your princess back and holding her, where as snatch ‘n grab is more just rescue your princess three times. So the two modes don’t differ much, but rescue the princess is much better based on the aforementioned stalemate issues which has happened to me often when playing snatch ‘n grab. Team Deathmatch is just what it says it is…each team starts with so many lives and as you die the number decreases. Finally Invasion uses these towers that are all over the maps and as you capture them…you gain points and once you have so many you win the match.
Now there are many constants in all these modes…one being that you can upgrade your individual classes and each class doesn’t necessarily get stronger, but gains more abilities. Ranger has a bow and then gets a shotgun, warrior has a sword and shield and then gets a two handed pike, mage uses fire and then gains the ability to use ice. Now the worker and priest I think are a little different. The worker at first is useless in fights, but once hes upgraded he can start throwing bombs that are great for crowd control…the priest can turn into a dark priest that rather then heal teammates, gains the ability to drain the enemy’s life.
You can use wood and iron you collect to upgrade your many houses that drop these hats. The hats are what you put on to change into these different classes. You can also use wood and iron to build a catapult that shoots you in right into the enemies base and you can also use the worker to build ladder and other short cuts into the enemies base.
There are some problems I’ve encountered while playing the game…such as the game taking forever to connect to games and running into some lag, but not often. These problems were all addressed in a patch released that I wrote about not too long ago…beyond all this Fat Princess isn’t all that bad…Fat Princess is great, as long as you don’t mind longer matches, and are willing to pay the $15 entrance fee.
